This is an early American scene by British photographer
George Stacy who produced fine American views in the
late 1850's to early 1860's. This view was taken in
New York City. It is captioned with a small paper label
on the verso of card: "Stacy's American Stereoscopic Views.
Collonade in front of the Merchants' Exchange--These are perhaps
the finest lot of granite columns in the worls. No 40."
This is an example of a hyperstereo, two shots spaced wider apart than the intraocular distance which would lead to a more natural 3D effect |
